The last part of concrete located under one of the doors was taken by Alex last Saturday.
It was not a massive work, however the sun was strong and it makes a big difference...
All concrete taken out and earth too
At least Alex got a little helper...
It is stored in the back of the property to be collected in 2 weeks.
Job finished, Well done Alex !!!

It is done! Now we are waiting (for a while) for the builders to come in and do the concrete!
Great to play football!
Before the concrete, this wall has to be opened. An opening of 3.5M will be done as soon as Mr PicotE comes along to do the top floor. French builders!!!
There will be a huge glass door, so that the room is not so dark and also to appreciate the outside view. This room is the future living room. The 3.5m opening will lead to the amercian
kitchen/dining area.
In this photo you can see where the kitchen are will be, both doors will be in glass.
Voila!

I have to admit , I didnt know it would be so hard to level the floor ....
We opened up 2 rooms and had to level the floor.
The first room the floor was in rock, we initially thought it was just a very thin layer , but we were very wrong .... heavy , too little man power and too many rocks.
It took over 60 wheelbarrow with rocks to clear
It took 2 full days to dig only this part of the room.
The other part was harder. The soil was very compacted, as hard as concrete. We had no option rather then hire a mini digger.
The digger arrived few days later. The top of the digger had to be taken as the room ceiling is too low. Our beloved and only neighbour helped us to take it, as it weighted an appox 150
kilos...
It was much easier and faster with this toy. Both rooms are almost 25cm under the door. We are now in the process of levelling both rooms....a very boring job!!!

This house belonged to the same family for many generations. The last person of this family died aged 92 at the house on the 24th of January 2007 .
When we arrived the mess was unimaginable .... There were plates, clothes, hangers, and even food dating from 1994 ...
Years and years of stuff stuck on those cupboards
Food still on the cupboard, some stuff that looked like from a horror movie

Bags and bags of rubbish....
After one full day of cleaning mode the destruction starts ...

As it was impossible to live in the house, we had to buy a caravane.
We looked for weeks and weeks until one day we found it on ebay.
Prob. None of us has actually got a license for it, so Alex as brave as he is rented a mini truck and went to collect it 60km from Jumilhac.
It all went fine, until we had to drop it in the desired place. The grass was extremelly wet and the truck + the caravane was very very heavy.
We got stuck once, and after a good hour we managed to free it . Wooraaayyy
Only to get stuck again few seconds later ....
It took hours of digging to try to free it again ... with no luck ...
For our despair the only neighbour was out and the night was falling. By 10pm Alex was still digging without luck. At that moment finally the neighbour arrived, saw our situation and called
Jean Pierre, a local Farmer. Just after 10pm he came speeding in his Tractor and managed to free the truck!!! What a nightmare !
Meet the caravane

2 bedrooms, living room, bathroom, but no hot water
